Citation :In january I could take a very detailed look to Street Fighter x Tekken's developing team work.
Very much things have changed since November, but all this is the major first-hand info I can give you for now.
Character Roster. The game will have 32 characters, plus little DLC.
Full roster confirmed in january :
Capcom characters :
- Ryu
- Ken
- Guile
- Chun-Li
- M. Bison
- Akuma
- Dan Hibiki
- Dhalsim [unfinished]
- Vega (Claw) [unfinished]
- Abel [currently on-test]
- Cammy [unconfirmed]
- Karin Kanzuki [unconfirmed]
- Sakura [unconfirmed. She could have been scrapped and/or appear as DLC, appears in the gamecode and initial artwork along Zangief. Same with Cammy]
Keep fingers crossed for Hugo and Alex. There's even official artwork depicting both of them
Namco characters :
- Kazuya Mishima
- Jin Kazama
- Nina Williams
- Paul Phoenix
- Christie Monteiro [unfinished]
- Heihachi Mishima [unfinished]
- Jun Kazama [currently on-test]
- Yoshimitsu [currently on-test]
- Zafina [confirmed]
- King [no model yet]
- Xiaoyu [unconfirmed]
- Hwoarang
- Brian Fury
- Ganryu
- Marshall Law
There's just a damnload contradiction between the dev. team about what tekken characters will be in. Characters with no dev. status listed could be full models or just cameos. Some of them are unrendered.
I could tell Brian is almost sure to be included. They're getting very serious with Ganryu's animations, there's very high chance he will be playable.
If Sakura and Karin make on it, I see Xiaoyu getting confirmed soon too.
Tiger Jackson could be throwin on it. He appears on some promotional artwork's, as Dan does
Notes :
- There's currently about 100 pieces of sketch artwork, and almost 40 finished illustrations.
- Animations have been enhanced, it moves way better than Street Fighter IV. Some early framerate issues, though.
- Rave electric gameplay, there's a cool "Alphaish" feel on it. Speed has increased quit a bit. I foresee a lot of fun.
- Characters can perform a "wake-up" attack while OTG (laid down on the floor), that somewhat balances the aggresive gameplay.
- Roll recover in on the game for now. Not sure if it's going to make in the final version.
- Ultras are still in the game, but they work different than in SFIV (not sure how, the gauge looks like an odd velocimeter with numbers on it).
- Tag Ultras haven't been touched for a while, but i don't think they're are discarded.
- Both Kazuya and Jin have the ability to turn into their Devil versions. Jin has it as Super, and Kazuya as an Ultra. Kazuya's Devil form ends after 20-30 seconds and with the round; Jin will remain transformed for all the remaining fight (This might change in the final version).
- Devil Kazuya look impressive, more like the True Ogre model presented for TTT2, there's also some blurry aura similar to Oni Akuma's. Just Badass. (Can't wait for a Darkstalker 4 with these graphics).
- Heihachi's Ultra look is currently very glitchy, it's resets the round when blocked. Some other weird stuff with the backgrounds.
- Kazuya Super is an "electric cage".
- Jin has aerial moves and depends a lot of his Super. To be honest, he can't do darn a thing. Ho, he has even an "Alpha-counter".
- Paul Phoenix fighting style looks somewhat like traditional karate, he has a flying kick similar to Ryo Sakazaki's on AoF2.
- Paul Phoenix's Super fires a two projectiles row. It doesn't look as weird as it sounds.
- I think Nina's still not finished yet. She doesn't feel like Tekken's. She's more effective when crouching.
- Jun's mechanics are planned to be a more accurate translation form the Tekken games, very enjoyable gameplay. She could easily finish being totally broken.
- Jun's second costume will be the same from TTT2. Namco and Capcom teams want to make clear a connection between the two games.
- Christie feels like Elena. She mixes some leaping moves, overhead and leg sweeps. The render is gorgeous.
- Yoshimitsu's model is very unusual, major cool though. It's based on SCII attire, but there's much of Capcom on it. Looks thin as paper and very tall. His normals have terrific long rach.
- Zafina's costume is original.
- Zafina will have a "Shadow Mode", I think it make her invisible. Ono plans going over the top with her.
- Lots of cheesy names for some Tekken characters special moves. "King Collider Crunch" and "Kamisama Crunch" for a couple Heihachi's moves.
- Kuma was ultimately scrapped. No fun on this.
- Lars won't be in the game. Ono recognizes he doesn't want to focus on latter storylines from Tekken, wants to make the game feel like a "prologue" for Street Fighter Saga (IV?).
- Ryu appears in the gamecode twice referred as "Shin Ryu". Otherwise, as "Ryu".
- Ken is Alpha Ken, simply as that.
- Chun-Li has Tensei Ranka. She really feels like the Alpha Chun-Li otherwise.
- Dhalsim's model have currently many glitches (arms overlaying to other character's models and such). He doesn't have target combos like the other characters, but that doesn't make him weak.
- Dhalsim's Yoga Inferno can be performed in midair.
- Dhalsim's teleport can send him to midair. I'll ask to ban this.
- Cameos in stages will include Panda, Blanka (Jungle Stage), Zabel, Unknown (Graveyard Stage), some Jack prototypes, Servbots and Lili (Robot Stage). There will be a Japanese arena stage.
- Kuma and Blanka's cartoon versions appear in promotional artwork of the game, and also in the end of the second teaser movie. Funny stuff if you like Ono's humour.
- They won't be "Edit Characters".
- Ono pretends to have unlockable customs already on the disc, there's a bunch unused textures for Tekken characters right now.
- Next teaser will feature Ken/Paul, Chun-Li/Jun. It will be shown by the end March.
- On April-May, there will be an open locktest. Ono's projected to have 6 characters each side. He wants to polish Heihachi and Akuma for it.
